Macenauer leads the Huskies to victory

Lewiston, Me– The Maineiacs jumped out the lead. When it was all said and done with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies came away with the 5-1 victory. Sergey Ostapchuk had a goal and an assist. Maxime Macenauer had a hat trick to lead the Huskies. Antoine Lafleur made 26 in the victory. Billy Lacasse got his 15th of the season.

Danick Paquette opened the game up with a great scoring chance. Lewiston would get on the board first with a goal from second year forward Billy Lacasse. It was his fifteenth of the season. Paquette and Etienne Brodeur would get the helpers at the 4:29 mark. A minute later, Paquette would find himself in the sin bin.

The Maineiacs would kill the Paquette penalty off. The Huskies were able to get shots on Peter Delmas. A roughing call went to Maxime Macenauer at the 7:39 mark. Lewiston had trouble getting the powerplay set up. It led to a Rouyn-Noranda short handed chance. Delmas made the save. Alexander Beaton tried to bat one in as he was in front of the net.

Late in the period, Billy Lacasse had a chance for his second goal of the period. Antoine Lafluer was able to cover the puck in front of his crease.

Alexander Beaton tried to feed Lucas LaBelle. Shortly there after, Brodeur and Paquette had chances. Peter Delmas was peppered in the second period. He started off the period making a point bank save. Garett Clarke went off for holding at the 4:02 mark. Just befor the penalty ended Maxime Macenauer snapped one home at the 5:51 mark. Assists went to Nicolas Deslauriers and Jarrad Struthers.

Maineiacs thought they retook the lead when Matt Bourdeau stuffed the puck in the net. The light didn’t initially go on. The referees then waived off the goal and quickly took a look upstairs. It was confirmed a no goal. Martin D’Anjou went off with 8:30 left in the period. It became a 4 on 4 situation when Paquette was called for tipping 26 seconds later.

The Huskies would go up 2-1 when Benoit Gervais recorded his tenth goal of the season at the 16:09 mark. Sergey Ostapchuk and Pier-Luc Giguère got the assists. 81 seconds later Sergey Ostapchuk made it 3-1 on the powerplay. Danick Paquette was in the box for an interference call. Alex Émond got the lone assist. Lewiston had chances before the final siren sounded to end the second.

2:10 into the third, Maxime Macenauer got his second of the contest. Jarrad Struthers and Jeff Desjardins got the assists. The Maineiacs went on the powerplay when Pier-Luc Champagne went to the sin bin. Brodeur and Steeven Jacques both had chances on the man advantage.

A big scuffle happened at the 7:54 mark. Denis Reul and Marc-Andre Bourdon got matching minors. Brodeur got the originally penalty. A mini brawl broke out with 9:23 remaining. Maxime Gratchev got a two minutes and a major for fighting when dropped the gloves with Martin D’Anjou. He just got five for fighting.

After that fight, Michael Ward and Dominic Bohac dropped the mitts. In addition to the fighting majors, they both got a ten minute and a game misconduct. After the drop of the puck Denis Reul and Marc-Andre Bourdon wrestled each other to the ground. Bourdon came up bloody.

Maxime Macenauer completed the hat trick with 5:11 left in the game. Jarrad Struthers and Jeff Desjardins set the goal up.

Each goalie saw 27 shots, Peter Delmas made 22 saves and Antoine Lafleur made 26 stops. Lewiston was 0 for 4 on the powerplay and Rouyn-Noranda was 1 for 7. The three stars were
