Colby falls in fifth straight game

Castleton, NY — The Colby College men’s hockey team lost by one goal for a second straight day on the road as the Mules fell 3-2 to Castleton State in overtime on Saturday.

Colby falls to 2-5-1 overall, but has not allowed more than three goals in any of the eight games. Castleton State improves to 2-4 with the win.

Cody McKinney stopped 26 shots in goal for Colby, while Jay Seals was called on for 14 stops for Castleton.

Jesse Lehman got his first goal for Colby at 6:54 of the second period off passes from Chris Buonomo and Mike White. However, Castleton tied the game at 1-1 after one period when Evan Romeo tallied just 35 seconds later.

Stuart Stefan put Castleton up 2-1 at 10:55 of the third period, but Colby’s Matt Ahern got his first goal of the year with just 4:58 to play off an assist by Bobby Sullivan.

Stefan tallied 3:36 into the overtime period to give Castleton the win.
