Nestrasil leads the Tigres

Victoriaville, PQ– The Victoriaville Tigres had a four point advantage coming into the game against the Lewiston Maineiacs on Sunday. The Tigres added two more points as they defeated the Maineiacs 4-1. Andrej Nestrasil had a goal and three assists to lead the Tigres. Joël Chouinard and Maxime Tanguay each had a goal and assist. Kevin Poulin made 37 saves in the victory. Michael Chaput got Lewiston’s only goal.

Just 2:17 into the period, Steeven Jacques went to the sin bin. The Maineiacs were able to kill the penalty. Lewiston went on the powerplay at the 5:09 mark when Joël Chouinard went to the box. Lewiston would have 5 on 3 powerplay for nine seconds when Antoine Laperrière sat down. Lewiston couldn’t convert.

The Tigres would get on the scoreboard first when rookie Andrej Nestrasil potted his tenth of the season. Joël Chouinard got the lone assist on the goal. Nestrasil would go to the sin bin with 3:04 remaining; Lewiston had a chance to tie it up when a shot rang the post.

Lewiston had a few 2 on 1 chances. Poulin made the saves. Phillip Wright made a few key saves early on in the second period. Michael Ward fired a shot on Kevin Poulin, Lewiston had a rebound chance and Poulin got drilled but no penalties were called. Poulin was slow to get up but was okay.

Phillip Wright made a big save on Brandon Hynes. Wright made a blocker save on Andrej Nestrasil. Michael Chaput went to the sin bin at the 10:36 mark. Hynes fanned on a shot but Chouinard put the puck home. Danick Paquette went off for roughing. Lewiston was able to kill the Captain’s penalty.

Lewiston would get a delay of game penalty with 4:09 remaining. Garrett Clarke would serve the penalty. 25 seconds later Maxime Tanguay would go off for tripping. Eric Gelinas would blast one and Michael Chaput tipped it past Poulin. Billy Lacasse got the secondary assist with 1:35 remaining in the second.

Steeven Jacques was sent to the sin bin to start the third period. The Tigres would capitalize as Tanguay beat Wright five hole. Andrej Nestrasil and Joël Chouinard got the assists. Kirill Tulupov would go to the sin bin at the 2:15 mark.

Michael Ward went to the box after he drilled a Victoriaville player into the net. Before the net came off, the puck barely crossed the line. It went up to the booth after the original call was a no goal. The call was reversed. Olivier Hinse would get credit with the tally, Alexi Pianosi and Andrej Nestrasil grabbed assists at the 5:04 mark.

Garrett Clarke let a snapshot go from the top of the slot but Poulin made the save. Lewiston kept the pressure on. Maxime Tanguay got called for a delay of game at the 11:05 mark. Lewiston couldn’t convert on the powerplay. They went back to the powerplay when Antoine Laperrière was called for a cross check. With 40 seconds left in the powerplay, Gratchev got called for a slash.

Phillip Wright made 20 saves on 24 chances. Kevin Poulin was stellar turning away 37 shots. Lewiston was 0 for 7 with the man advantage. The Tigres were 2 for 6 on the powerplay. The three stars were:
