Lewiston goes 1-3 on the road trip

Gatineau, QC– Seven Olympiques had two or more points in the 6-2 victory over the Lewiston Maineiacs. Buffalo Sabres prospect, Paul Bryon had a goal and two assists and Maxime Mallette added two goals. Goaltender Maxime Clermont made 23 saves in the victory. Eric Gelinas had a goal and an assist in the losing effort.

After one period, it was 1-0 Gatineau after Byron got his tenth of the season at the 7:14 mark. Alexandre Quesnel and Steven Delisle grabbed the assists on the powerplay tally. Pierre-Oliver Morin was in the sin bin. A scrum broke out with 4:06 remaining. Patrick Cusack and Etienne Brodeur of the Maineiacs and Gerrit Fauser of Gatineau went to the box.

In the second period, Jan Stransky made it 2-0 on the powerplay at the 7:31 mark. Alexandre Touchette and Tye McGinn helped out on the goal. Steeven Jacques put Lewiston a man down. With 2:49 remaining, Alexandre Touchette got the eventual game winner with the assists going to Hubert Labrie and Tye McGinn.

Gatineau would score six unanswered goals. Lucas LaBelle would put the Maineiacs down a man at the 2:40 mark. Off the offensive zone face off, Maxime Mallette got his first of the night four seconds into the powerplay. Hugo Laporte and Jean-Philip Chabot set the goal up. Brodeur would return to the sin bin 12 seconds late. The Olympiques capitalized again with 32 seconds left in the powerplay. Alexandre Quesnel got the tally with Byron and Chabot getting the helpers.

Mallette got his second of the night on the powerplay with 7:12 remaining in the contest and it was the end of Peter Delmas’ night. Laporte and Byron each got their second assist of the night. Eric Gelinas was serving the penalty.

Lewiston spoiled Clermont’s shutout bid with 2:22 remaining. Eric Gelinas got a powerplay mark with Maxime Gratchev and Brodeur putting an assist in the assist column. Hubert Labrie was in the sin bin. With 78 seconds left in the contest, Billy Lacasse got his ninth of the year. Gelinas and Denis Reul got the assists.

Peter Delmas made 19 saves and Phillip Wright stopped three shots. Maxime Clermont made 23 saves in the victory. Lewiston was 1 for 7 with the man advantage anf Gatineau was 5 for 10. The three stars were:
