The Cataractes keep rolling

Shawinigan, QC– The Shawinigan Cataractes made it 15 wins in a row as they defeated the Lewiston Maineiacs 7-4. Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and Maxime Legualt each had two goals. Simon Lacroix had a goal and two assists. Timo Pielmeier made 41 saves in the victory. Maxime Gratchev had a goal and two assists. Jonathan Connelly made his second straight start in the loss.

The Cataractes jumped out to a two goal lead. Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll made it 1-0 2:32 in the contest. Assists went to Lacroix and Matthew Pistilli got the helpers on the powerplay. Gratchev and Denis Reul were in the box. At the 6:06 mark, Lacroix grabbed his second point of the night as he made it 2-0. Tommy Tremblay got the only helper.

The Maineiacs stormed back with three goals. Eric Gelinas got a powerplay tally with 7:28 remaining. Gratchev and Etienne Brodeur set the goal up. With 5:22 left, Pierre-Olivier Morin got his fourth goal of the year. Matt Bourdeau got the only assist. Gratchev would get his second powerplay point as he tied the game up at two with 1:41 remaining. Danick Paquette and Michael Ward got the assists. That was also a powerplay goal.

Shawinigan would fire five goals in the row. Cédric Lalonde-McNicoll would tie the game back up 5:34 into the second. Pierre-Alexandre Vandall and Matthew Pistilli set the powerplay goal up. Ward and Michael Chaput were in the sin bin. 1:17 later, Maxime Legault got his tenth of the season. Antoine Houde-Caro and Tommy Gauthier got the powerplay assists. Chaput was still in the sin bin. With 4:43 remaining, Michaël Bournival got his second of the season with Nicolas Petersen putting puck on his stick.

99 seconds into the third, Legault got his second goal of the night. Pierrick Martel set the goal up. Pierre-Alexandre Vandall made it 7-3 just under two minutes later. Simon Lacroix and Dave Labrecque assisted on the powerplay goal. Patrick Cusack was in the sin bin. At the 6:09 mark, Alexander Beaton got his seventh goal of the year. Assists went to Sean Stagles and Gratchev. It was a short handed tally with Gelinas in the box.

Jonathan Connelly made 19 saves in the loss. Timo Pielmeier made 41 saves on 45 chances. Lewiston was 2/11 on the powerplay and the Shawinigan Cataractes were 4 for 10. The three stars were:
