Info on the NHL Draft

The NHL Central Scouting Bureau released their preliminary “Players to Watch” list. It’s broken down into three categories:

A Rating – A must see player who is predicted to be a potential First or Second Round Draft selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.
B Rating — A player to note if you are in the area, a potential selection in the Third to Fifth Round Draft Selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.
C Rating – A player that Central Scouting is tracking, a potential late round selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.

A Rating

Brian Dumoulin-New Hampshire Junior Monarchs (EJHL)

The Redline Report has been pretty impressed with Dumoulin so far:

Red Line was at the Eastern Junior Hockey League’s showcase event last month and there are a couple of intriguing prospects in the loop this year. First and foremost is big, mobile blue-liner Brian Dumoulin of the New Hampshire Monarchs. We’ve liked him since we first laid eyes on him as a 15-year-old toiling for a tiny Maine high school. And now he’ll get good coaching under Sean Tremblay, who has built the Monarchs into an EJHL powerhouse.

Dumoulin has terrific size at 6-3/195 and is a mobile puck carrier with outstanding vision and offensive skills. As you would expect coming from his limited playing background, he’s still quite raw and needs refinement in the areas of positioning, reading and diagnosing plays and making quicker decisions. But he appears to be an apt pupil and has the tools and natural hockey sense to round off into a really fine player. He’s one we’ll be keeping a close eye on.

B Rating

Kelen Corkum-New Hampshire Junior Monarchs (EJHL)

C Rating

Patrick McEachen-Stouffville Spirit (OPJHL)
