Jr Pirates Split

The Jr. A Pirates split the weekend in Walpole, Massachusetts. On Saturday, they defeated the Walpole Express 4-3. Bobby Hannah had two goals and an assist. Tom Gosselin had a goal and an assist. Derek Tomes also got a tally and Russ Franey added an assist.

Sunday, the Express defeated the Pirates 8-2. Tom Gosselin and Tyler Fluerent were the goal scores. Kyle Weiland and Kyle Cummings added assists. Russ Franey had two assists.

Monarchs on a Losing Streak!

The New Hampshire Monarchs and a losing streak don’t belong in the same sentence. They lost both games this weekend. On Saturday, they lost 7-4 to another EJHL powerhouse the Junior Bruins. Maine recruits Kelen Corkum and Adam Shemansky added goals for the Monarchs. Shemansky also added an assist on Corkum’s goal. Brian Dumoulin added an assist on Adam Shemansky’s goal. Portland native and former Deering standout Nick Broadwater made 16 saves for the Junior Bruins in the victory.

Sunday the Monarchs faced Apple Core and lost 7-3. Adam Shemansky had a goal and assist. Kelen Corkum and Dumoulin added an assist.

Another Mainer on the Monarchs

Brian Billet of Brunswick is one of the goaltenders for the New Hampshire Monarchs Junior B team. The 16-year-old is 1-0-1 with a 2.43 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. This summer he participated in the National Select 16’s where he had a 1.61 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. He led the Select 16’s in goals against average and third in save percentage.

OPJHL Update

Maine Black Bears have three recruits playing in the Ontario Provincial “A” Junior Hockey League. Joey Diamond has ten goals and a total of twenty points in ten contests for the Hamilton Red Wings. He’s tied for 17th in scoring in the league. Defenseman Patrick McEachen has a goal and seven assists in 12 contests. 2010 recruit Carlos Amestoy, has a goal and assist in 11 games.
