Sabres fall to the Leafs, 7-4 in preseason action

Toronto, ON – Well it’s only the preseason….

Still it was a pretty ugly loss for the Buffalo Sabres, who dropped their first game of the preseason, 7-4 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Sabres would get on the board only 45 seconds into the opening period on a goal by Marek Zagrapan, who had a three point night (1g, 2a), but after that, it was all Leafs as they scored the next four goals.

Sabres’ goaltender Ryan Miller (8 saves/11 shots) played the first 28:56 of the game before coming out of the game for Sabres’ prospect Jonas Enroth.

Enroth, who will be the #1 goaltender for the Pirates this season, made 10 saves on 13 shots in his North American debut.

Other goal scorers for the Sabres were Mark Mancari, Philip Gogulla and Jochen Hecht.

Former Pirates captain Tyler Bouck, also in the line up was a plus/minus -1 in a scoreless effort.

On Tuesday, the Sabres will travel to Roberval, Que for a game against the Montreal Canadiens as part of the “Kraft Hockeyville 2008”. The game can be seen on the NHL Network beginning at 7:00pm.
