Portland, ME – And let the awards begin to roll in.

Former Pirate Bobby Ryan was named to the All-Rookie team as the American Hockey League made the announcement earlier this afternoon.

Ryan has spent considerable time with both the Pirates and Ducks this season. In 48 games with the Pirates this season, he’s scored 21 goals, 28 assists for 49 points as well as being named a starter for PlanetUSA in the AHL All-Star Classic that took place in Binghamton, NY.

The second overall draft pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft opened the season with the Anaheim Ducks, scoring in his first NHL game before being sent to Portland. Ryan has been with the Ducks since March 7 after Corey Perry suffered a nasty leg injury. In 21 games with Anaheim, he’s put up seven points (4g 3a).

The Cherry Hill, N.J. native just celebrated his 21st birthday last month.
