Miller returns to Portland

The Anaheim Ducks have sent Drew Miller back to the Portland Pirates. It was apparent the Ducks were going to make some sort of transaction move after they acquired Brandon Bochenski from the Boston Bruins yesterday for Shane Hnidy. The Ducks also gave up their 6th round pick in the 2008 draft as well as they relinquished their option to exchange fourth round picks with the Bruins in the 2008 Draft (as part of the Stanislav Chistov deal, Nov. 13, 2006).

In 25 games with the Ducks, Miller has tallied five points (2g, 3a) playing on the third line most nights. With Miller being a healthy scratch for the last two games and with Carter filling a more prominent role at center, Miller being assigned was the likely option for the Ducks, especially with Bochenski entering the line up. Once Pahlsson is back and playing at 100%, it’s possible that Carter could be assigned to Portland as well.

Miller played only one game for the Pirates this season, going scoreless.
